About SHR....
Founded by MaryDee Sist, DVM in 1999, Saluki Health Research, Inc. (SHR) is a non-profit corporation.

To initiate, sponsor, support, and carry out veterinary research into diseases and health problems of dogs, with an emphasis on the Saluki breed, and to raise funds needed to support the organization’s work.
​
Our research goals:
~ Collect and archive samples and information needed for current and future studies and analysis of data.
~ Compare the physiological parameters
of health and disease in the Saluki and other breeds of dogs.
~ Report on findings through breed publications and other means that
inform dog fanciers, as well as through scientific journals.
This website is comprised of a wealth
of information in the form of articles that have been published; handouts that have been made available at breed specialty shows or mailed to those requesting them; presentations from conferences and seminars; much of which is accompanied by photos, slides, charts and data.
